Wearing surfaces
A wearing surface is the layer that takes the punishment — the tyres, the pallets, the dropped tools — so the structural floor underneath does not have to. It is specified from the traffic, not from a catalogue.
Specified from the traffic
The question is never "what is the best surface". It is what is going over it, how often, and what happens if it fails. A store room taking a pallet truck twice a week is a different floor from a loading bay under counterbalance forklifts all day. We would rather ask those questions before pricing than be called back in two years.

How do we choose one?
From the traffic. Pallet trucks, counterbalance forklifts, steel wheels and pedestrian-only are four different floors. Tell us what goes over it and how often.
Can you overlay an existing worn floor?
Usually, provided what is underneath is sound. That is a preparation question first — if the existing surface is failing, putting something on top of it fails too.
