A heat pump only works properly if the thing it is heating is designed for it. Low flow temperatures need a large emitter surface, and there is no larger emitter in a building than the floor.
The floor is the emitter
Underfloor heating and heat pumps belong together: the pump runs at a low flow temperature, the floor gives it the surface area to work with, and the screed over the pipe holds and releases the heat. Get the pipe centres and the screed depth right and the system does what the design promised. Get them wrong and an expensive heat pump spends its life running harder than it should.

Questions we get asked
Does underfloor heating make a heat pump worth having?
It is close to essential. A heat pump running at a low flow temperature into radiators sized for a gas boiler will disappoint. The floor gives it the emitter area it needs.
Can we retrofit this to an existing house?
Often, by milling the pipe into the existing floor rather than digging it out. That is a service in its own right — see retrofit underfloor heating.
